BigCommerce allows you to select with which template to generate a category page, Scaffolding allows you to define which is the default template to generate the category pages to which no particular template is specified.

In this way, any of the templates included in Scaffolding can be specified:

• cfm: category page with Colorful menu
• cfm_no_image: category page with Colorful menu but without the image of the category
• subcategories: category page listing its subcategories and the products of these subcategories (maximum 100 per subcategory)
• bc_standard: is the default template offered by BigCommerce in its Cornerstone theme

For example, if you want to display Colorful menu for most of the categories, you should indicate cfm as the default template and only those categories that you do not want to display Colorful menu, assign bc_standard (or subcategories).

Product listings in a category can be displayed with Product Card:

in a grid or Product List in a list:

Color used for the category name.

Color used in the background of the category name, as a dimmed background for filters and as the color of filters.

In the example, it is set to green:

Number of columns to display on desktop in the grid format.

Number of columns to display in cell phones in the grid format.

Displays the navigation menu on category pages.

Hide the category side menu on pages that display Colorful menu.

Since the navigation of the subcategories can be done with Colorful menu, it may be useful to hide the side navigation bar if you are not interested in the rest of the controls it offers.

It does not show the categories that do not have products assigned to them.

NOTE: It should be noted that if there are products assigned to a subcategory but not to the category, the category will not be displayed so neither will the subcategories.

If BigCommerce has been configured not to show products without stock, a category may appear even if there are no products to show, the only thing it takes into account is the number of products assigned to the category.

As categories are selected, they are displayed in the navigation bar.

For example, in this case we navigated to Fashion and then Men:

Displays price range to segment navigation.
